We need all movement members to assist with the following plan:

Spread the word!
Talk about nuclear power and keep asking the important questions in your community and of your municipal and provincial leaders. We must bring the discussion about nuclear power to kitchen tables, water coolers and the streets of our communities.

Volunteer!
We can’t do this without you! We need people to help us maintain our website, to put up posters, to coordinate media opportunities, to liaise with groups and organizations, to spread the truth about nuclear, to write letters, make phone calls, fundraise and much more.

Donate!
Your gift will help purchase advertising to increase awareness and engage citizens, develop and distribute materials to spread the word, enable phone and letter writing campaigns, and bring us all together to March on Edmonton to decisively inform our government that the people of Alberta do not want nuclear power.

Declare!
Declare your family, business, community, municipal district or organization officially and unequivocally Opposed to Nuclear Power in Alberta.

The critical steps towards a Nuclear-Free Alberta include:

Poster Campaign
To begin awareness raising and recruit more volunteers & donors, we will engage all volunteers in a poster campaign. All across Alberta, in community centres, public notice boards, churches, bus shelters and anywhere else they will be seen, posters encouraging people to JOIN THE GROWING MOVEMENT TO KEEP ALBERTA NUCLEAR-FREE will provide citizens with information on how they can get involved.

Province wide letter to the editor campaign
Regional volunteer teams will cover the daily and weekly papers across the province with letters to the editor presenting the case against nuclear.

Free media campaign
By generating and circulating monthly press releases as well as effectively providing great media content when invited to share our story, we will drive media content on the nuclear energy debate and present a credible, compelling case for keeping Alberta Nuclear-Free.

Municipalities campaign
Regional teams will provide municipal governments and politicians with introductory packages, follow-up to answer questions and request support, and encourage municipal governments to declare their municipalities Nuclear-Free.

Paid media campaign
With funds donated by movement supporters, we will purchase ad time and produce effective ads and messages for print, radio and television that will reach the entire province of Alberta. This media blitz will send clear message to Alberta’s politicians that the movement to Keep Alberta Nuclear-Free is sophisticated, resourced and serious, and shift public opinion in favor of keeping Alberta Nuclear-Free

Provincial political action
Phoning/faxing campaigns will put the overwhelming number of Albertans opposed to nuclear energy directly in touch with their MLA. We will work to have legislation to keep Alberta nuclear-free introduced on the floor of Alberta’s Legislature following the paid media campaign. Finally, during debate and before the vote, marches will be held throughout the province, with the largest taking place in Edmonton to the steps of the Legislature to demonstrate that the people of Alberta will not accept nuclear energy in their province.
